The Pairs Bio: Family -- blood and chosen -- is the cord that ties The Pairs together, and a desire for connection is what ties them to the world. A gentle mix of choral, theatrical and Gaelic roots. The Pairs don’t quite fit any particular genre and they like that! With three unique songwriters at the helm, The Pairs create a diverse repertoire using their individual lives as inspiration. Employing music as a tool for sharing stories of life's challenges, hope and hilarity, The Pairs inherently connect with the audience through their emotion-full performances. Powered by 3 classically trained vocalists and a former punk rock drummer, their unique blend of harmony and rhythm will hug your eardrums and inspire you to dance! For the purposes of this live stream, Renee Coughlin (one of three lead singer/songwriters for The Pairs) would be performing solo as all band members are unable to be together due to COVID-19 restrictions. Renee's Bio: For Renee Coughlin, music speaks a language that words themselves can never fully describe. Greeting each stage and microphone with a healthy dose of inner doubt and nervousness, Renee brings an authentically lighthearted energy that quickly becomes endearing to audiences. She strives to write music that creates space for human beings to bond over shared experiences of hope, hilarity and hardship. Her songs and stories tell tales of complex inner dialogue and give playful attention to the complexities and nuances of daily life. Inspired by the likes of Sarah Harmer, Ani DiFranco and The Dixie Chicks, Renee writes and performs spunky, uplifting melodies that inspire deep reflection, change and joy within communities. She combines an inherent love of music nurtured in her early childhood with classical training and some playful experimentation with lifelong friends to create unique audience experiences.
