Funeral Lakes – formerly of Vancouver, now of Toronto – is Sam and Chris, partners in life and in tunes. The project started as a creative medium to express their mounting fears and frustrations about the current state of the world. “When it comes to making protest music, Funeral Lakes know that you don't always have to scream to be heard. On their eponymous debut, Sam and Chris articulate their anxieties about climate change through explicitly political lyrics and shoegaze melodies” (Courtney Heffernan, Exclaim!). “If goth folk is a genre, this is what it sounds like. It’s dark and moody and benevolent, with lyrics that are socially conscious” (Francis Baptiste, Citrus Magazine). Funeral Lakes’ debut album is out in support of the Pull Together campaign organized by RAVEN Trust.
