The alias of Singer, songwriter, producer and multi-instrumentalist Dorian Voos. Haunted Vocals. Intricate syncopation. Gritty dissonance. Uplifting downtempo. These are the worlds that this inde/electronica project has begun to blend together. Born in Belgium, Dorian Voos started making his own music from an early age. Taking inspiration from Jeff Buckley, Tears For Fears, Coldplay and George Michael, he later studied electronic music production at the SAE institute of Bruxelles. At the age of 19, he decided to move to London and joined the BIMM Institute of Music. After living in Melbourne and Budapest for a few years, he moved to Toronto where the aiwake project was born. It experienced some commercial success in mid 2017 when the first two singles 'Birds' and 'Childish' were taken seriously across streaming platforms. Playlisted across the board, the second single even cracked the US Viral 50 chart on Spotify. 'Crescent Lane' followed early 2018 and a signing with Majestic Casual happened not long after. The singles that resulted from that collaboration, 'Palm City’ and 'Tonight (Sundown)’, were both positively received and appeared on major playlists such as Today’s chill on Apple music, or Spotify Fresh Finds. The second track being accompanied by a gorgeous one-take live session, recorded in Toronto. The year 2019 was concluded by the release of two remixes: Hazey Eyes & Panama - Emotion (aiwake remix), followed by Instupendo - Pinch (aiwake remix). By the end of summer 2020, aiwake is planned to release a collaborative EP with NYC band Saen.
